Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • How does the Express Entry system work?

Express Entry is an online system that manages immigration applications for skilled workers under three programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Candidates create a profile and are ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Those with the highest CRS scores receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.

  • What is a good CRS score for Express Entry?

CRS scores vary with each draw, but a competitive score is typically around 470 or higher. However, scores can fluctuate based on immigration targets and applicant pools. If your score is lower, you can improve it by gaining more work experience, improving language test scores, securing a provincial nomination, or obtaining a valid job offer.

  • How long does it take to process an Express Entry application?

Express Entry applications are processed within six months from the date of submission after receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). However, processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the application, document verification, and government processing times.
